KJLA: Penetrating Diverse Markets Los Angeles, Calif. – August 15, 2010 - The year was 2001. Imprinted into public consciousness because of other events that occurred during this fateful year, 2001 also signaled the birth of LATV Network (home of KJLA), a Latino-owned and independently-run media company.
Founded to link broadcasters with America’s most rapidly growing ethnic market through language, and culture-specific broadcasting, KJLA has always positioned itself as a leader in the world of mass media. Initially launched as a media company that generated and retained the interest of young, upwardly mobile Latinos, LATV Network is now a 24/7 national network that directly reaches 70% of Latino households throughout the United States. Not only is LATV Network now a national network, it also owns American Latino Syndication and has programming that airs in more than 100 markets nationwide. The 100 cities reached by American Latino Syndication include Chicago, Miami, New York, Phoenix and others.
Moreover, KJLA-TV, Channel 57 in Los Angeles, covers 5,654,260 households. The households served extend to southern Santa Barbara in the North, to North San Diego in the South, and Riverside County in the East. Remote areas such as Lebec, Caswell, Lancaster, Palmdale, Ventura, Ojai, San Clemente, and other cities are now included in KJLA-TV Channel 57’s footprint. Programming is available by cable, satellite, and over-the-air.
KJLA-TV ‘s most recent strategic plan includes the objective of continuing to serve those 1,854,810 Latino households within its footprint while also serving all of Southern California’s highly diverse households. As part of this effort, KJLA has partnered with FalkonQwest Productions, an independent entertainment company to introduce the English-language, multicultural episodic, Get Thee Behind Me.
Premiering as part of KJLA primetime programming beginning on Sunday, October 10, 2010 from 8:00 – 9:00 p.m., Get Thee Behind Me, a nighttime, weekly soap, combines a gangster/crime lord plot with a faith-based theme that both entertains and inspires. Integrated into these themes are key ingredients for success-original music and videos that further the plot; extremely talented, veteran Caucasian, Latino, African American and Asian actors who perfectly depict their well-separated characters; excellent and creative directing; and well-written, complex soap opera plots that twist, weave, and deceive. In addition, original soundtracks, novels and novellas, and even clothing lines that duplicate the styles of several lead actors.
